Kia ora. My name is Jacob Young and I'm the founder and head tutor at Trajectory Education.
I began private tutoring in 2017 and have since helped 90+ students in Canterbury achieve their goals through one-on-one school tuition.

After working as a commercial lawyer in Christchurch for 2 years, in July of 2024 I decided to pursue my passion for private education and started Trajectory Education (formerly Tute).

At Trajectory, we focus on providing personalised extension tutoring. This is tutoring for students whose learning needs are not being fully met at school. The most common reasons for this are:
-
a teaching or class environment which is unconducive to the child's learning;
-
high intelligence which is not being challenged at school, sometimes leading to restlessness and disengagement in class;
-
behavioural characteristics such as low confidence or resistance to mistakes;
-
neurodivergence giving rise to particular learning needs, most commonly Dyspraxia, Dyslexia, Dyscalculia or ADHD.

I've personally seen the impact that quality tuition makes on the confidence, abilities and results of these students. I started Trajectory to support these students in particular.

Since starting Trajectory, I have been on a journey towards studying and understanding the systems and methods that grow young people's learning. I'm proud to be a part of each one of my student's learning journeys, and love seeing the impact we make.

I try to connect our students with extra-curricular opportunities beyond their studies, particularly with a view for improving their chances at attaining a university scholarship, if it is their ambition to pursue tertiary education.

If you would like to discuss what Trajectory might be able to do for your child, I would love to hear from you.
